Friday Fight Night, International Boxing, Copa del Rey and more coming up on Kwesé Sports.

Frenchman Zinedine Zidane is facing the heat at Real Madrid after the club was dumped out of the Copa del Rey by cross-town ‘poor cousins’, Leganes. It was all going so well for Zidane and his ‘Galacticos’ after they completed the double last season, winning La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. But six months is a long time in football and now Zidane is hanging onto his job by a hair. One man’s meat is another’s poison, with arch-rivals Barcelona not only topping the league, but also in line for a semifinals spot in the Copa del Rey. But first they must overcome a 1-0 deficit against cross-town rivals Espanyol in the second leg of their quarterfinal: Barcelona vs Espanyol (Kwesé Sports 1, 25 February at 22:30 CAT). Will Barcelona follow Real Madrid in losing to their poor neighbours, or will a dash of Messi magic see them through once again?

Everybody loves a good scrap and Kwesé brings you the world’s best boxing from around the world. We have two exciting boxing evenings for you this weekend. Don’t miss Kwesé’s Friday Fight Night, LIVE from Harare (Kwesé Free Sports at 20:00 CAT), featuring a cracking encounter for the WBF Africa Heavyweight Title. It’s a Zimbabwe vs DRC matchup as Elvis Moyo takes on Knife Didier. There are also four entertaining undercard bouts, including the WBF African Bantamweight title fight.

In more great boxing this weekend, we also bring you the WBA World Welterweight Title Fight: Matthysse vs Kiram (Kwesé Free Sports at 5:30 CAT). The bookies have the Argentine (Matthysse) at 6-1 odds to defend his title against the free-punching Kiran (Thailand).

Basketball lovers are in for a treat with our NBA Sunday game of Chicago Bulls vs Milwaukee Bucks (Kwesé Free Sports, 28 February at 22:30 CAT). There’s African interest in this matchup, with David Nwaba (Nigerian-American) playing at guard for the Bulls, while Giannis Antetokounmo (Nigerian-Greek) continues to work his magic for the Bucks.

And with the Super Bowl coming to you LIVE on 4 February, get in the mood with the NFL Pro Bowl 2018 (Kwesé Sports 2, 28 January at 22:00 CAT). The Pro Bowl is a game between the top players of each NFL Conference (AFC and NFC). It’s festival football as foes become friends, and the stars of each conference (who are not in the Super Bowl) display their skills and play the game for the sheer love of it.

And then football fans should look out for our EFL Championship clash between Bristol and Queens Park Rangers (Kwesé Sports 1, 27 January at 17:00 CAT). This will be an interesting match-up for all the African talent on the park. Look out for QPR’s Idrissa Sylla (Guinea), Yeni N’Gbakoto (DRC), Kazenga Lua Lu (DRC) and Nedum Onuoha (Nigeria).

And that’s but a taste of the incredible weekend sporting action on Kwesé.
