David Haye warns Tony Bellew to prepare for March 4 showdown

13:45 SAST | 24 Feb 2017

When David Haye and Tony Bellew clash at The O2 on Saturday night it will be the first heavyweight blockbuster of 2017.

More than that, however, the English pair will finally get to settle their differences in the ring. This after their disdain for each other reached fever pitch last October after Bellew defended his WBC World Cruiserweight title against BJ Flores.

Barely a minute after the Liverpudlian had his arms raised in victory, he called out Haye – a friend of Flores’, who had been commentating on the bout.

They continued exchanging angry words and had to be separated by security, much the same as when this fight was announced a few months later.

That all being said, on Saturday – LIVE on Kwese Sports 1 – there will be no parting them.

The 36-year-old Haye has made short work of the two opponents he has fought since returning from a three-and-a-half year absence in early 2016. The former two-weight World champion has constantly predicted he’ll do the same to Bellew – who he calls ‘Bellend’.

Meanwhile, the 34-year-old Bellew will be stepping up a weight class and while his world title won’t be on the line, his credibility will be. That said, he’s excited for the ‘big risk, big reward’ that the fight presents.

Either way this one goes, it will be intriguing to see who is left silenced…
