Cisse: Nigeria are amongst Africa?s best
Senegal coach Aliou Cisse says Nigeria can be counted alongside Cameroon, Algeria and his own country as the continent?s best footballing teams.
Cisse praised Nigeria?s quality after the 1-1 draw the two teams played to in London last week.
Fenerbahce marksman Moussa Sow put Senegal in front early on in the second half, before Kelechi Iheanacho of Manchester City equalised from the penalty spot with less than 10 minutes left to play.
Senegal were amongst the strongest sides at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, but lost on penalties in the quarter-finals to Cameroon, who went on to win the competition.
Now after playing Nigeria last week, Cisse says he believes the Super Eagles are among Africa?s top four teams.
?Nigeria is a good team. Nigeria is a football country with many very good players. That has always been the case, with Jay-Jay Okocha, and so on,? the former Teranga Lions captain told the Galsenfoot website.
?We respect this team. They did not qualify for the last Africa Cup of Nations, but it is a good team that has a future.
?Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon, Algeria are the future of African football,? he added.
Gernot Rohr?s Nigeria side are topping their World Cup-qualifying Group B after claiming six points from two matches.
Senegal are third in Group D, but only a point behind South Africa and Burkina Faso.
