Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare has hailed midfielder Wilfred Ndidi’s performance in his side’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Stoke City on Saturday.

Ndidi made a massive impact, netting an absolute scorcher from over 25 yards out in the 25th minute. It was the Nigeria international’s first English Premier League goal and gave the Foxes a crucial 1-0 lead.

Jamie Vardy doubled the lead two minutes before the half-time whistle, volleying home his ninth goal of the season in emphatic fashion.

“[Ndidi] is young and we don’t want to put too much pressure on him. He’s a humble boy and reminds [me] a lot of Kante with his personality,” Shakespeare told BBC Sport.

“[The] first goal was always going to be crucial and what a goal it was. Ndidi has done that before. He’s got that in his locker.”

Leicester City welcome Sunderland to the King Power Stadium for their next English top-flight encounter on Tuesday.
